Rug Doctor X-3 Cleaning A Bad Rental Carpet

Posted on: March 15th, 2019 by

The residents of this apartment hired us to clean their carpets after being written up for overall cleanliness. This was a cleaning that was negotiated down by the customer to save money and is a no frills cleaning. They did not wish to pay for spot treatments, and only wanted a general basic cleaning, against our advise for a more intensive one. But the customer is always right so we did what we could with pre-spray and extraction only. In future, if they want us to, we can do spot treatment to get even better results, but for now, this is what we did…

I came here to see if these things work well. I still can't really tell from this video if it's worth it or not.

That's from having dogs in the apartment. I love animals, but dogs need to be outside when no one is home. It is unfair to the animal to keep them cooped up in an apartment….just my opinion, but you need a house with a yard if you want dogs

Uhm… Did they not even have any furniture in that room? IT WAS FROM WALL TO WALL! If there was furniture, there would be at least SOME clean areas…

I think that carpet is damaged.

Looks like they had animals in there.

    Tenants suck. No respect.

What mixture ratio did you use in your pre soak?

I have a love hate relationship with your videos… I cannot believe tenants can be so filthy!!! Now I know why in most places they ask for first last and security … a shame… hats off to you!

You guys give hope for a rug doctor! I will be having to use one soon enough.

I had a client in San Diego, California who hired my services to troubleshoot his computer system and Internet access. He lived in a really nice apartment with a view of the Pacific Ocean. As I entered his apartment, the client said: "Please excuse the mess in the living room. I'm in the middle of rebuilding my motorcycle; so be careful not to step on any loose parts."

Yes, the client was rebuilding his entire motorcycle; including the engine, in the middle of the carpeted living room floor. His living room carpet was MUCH WORSE than the carpet in this video. He didn't bother to use a tarp or cardboard on the floor, so the oil and grease from the motorcycle engine were on the carpet everywhere.

I provided the technical support he needed, and I was very happy his check didn't bounce. As it turned out, the worry about insufficient funds was unneeded because his income was from a trust fund. About a year later, I received a call from him, and he needed my services again because he had moved to another apartment. In a conversation, I asked him why he gave up his ocean-view apartment to move inland. His reply: "The landlord was a real a**hole, and we didn't get along." "Plus, the SOB refused to give me my security deposit back." (Gee, I wonder why.)

And that, folks, is an example of "why" some RENTERS have earned their bad reputation.

I swear having carpet with two toddlers is the most horrific thing. I feel like I can never keep mine clean 😭

  12. Laura Rangel says:

You guys could get yall a CRV and prespray then rug doc and I bet you could get even better results.

  13. Cassidi RayAnn says:

And they let their kids play on that thing!! Disgusting!

I get grossed out as soon as you notice my carpet is no longer the shade it was from when I moved in. I bought a shampooer and clean. Some people are just so gross.

What effect does being “written up” as a tenant? Just curious. Everywhere I’ve ever rented, I took better care of the place than did the owner/landlord. Like what happens? Is it a 3 strikes you’re out kind of thing? That place must REEK of smoke. Smokers need to be required to do it outside.

  16. Holly James says:

How does that even happen? Poor landlord must have been horrified

  17. Douglas Duet says:

did they use the living room to change their oil?

  18. Opossum Gnome says:

I came to YouTube for motivation bc I'm cleaning my carpet right now and was feeling discouraged and tired….after seeing this carpet I don't feel so bad lol

  19. Amanda Ernst says:

I thought carpet was supposed to be replaced between renters
